Pool Cover Specialists Launches Swimming Pool Energy and Water Savings Calculator App for iPhone, iPad, and Android Devices
The App calculates the average annual cost of energy, water and chemicals, and the annual water evaporation and hydrocarbon output of a heated swimming pool, and compares that data side-by-side to savings that can be achieved by using a pool cover.

WEST JORDAN, UT, October 12, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Pool Cover Specialists National, Inc., the largest, independently-owned, automatic-swimming-pool-cover manufacturer in the world announced, today, the release of its patent-pending Swimming Pool Energy and Water Savings Calculator App. The App is designed to help pool owners and pool builders calculate the average, annual cost of energy; water and chemicals consumed by residential swimming pools; and the average, annual amount of evaporated water and hydrocarbon output generated by those residential pools. The Calculator then compares the data, side by side, with the potential savings that could be achieved from using an automatic pool cover. To be as accurate as possible, the Calculator uses the pool owner's own information, including preferred pool temperature, the exact cost of a "therm" indigenous to the pool owner's geographic area, the size of the pool in question and the U.S. State where the pool-owner lives.

Multiple studies, including a comprehensive study by the U.S. Department of Energy, show that the average, uncovered, heated, residential-swimming-pool generates annual costs as high as $4,500 or more in energy and chemical usage and water-replenishment costs. These studies also show that, on an annual basis, an uncovered, average-sized pool evaporates as much as 25,000 gallons or more of water and introduces tons of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere. In addition, these studies all conclude that covered pools may reduce energy consumption by as much as 85%, reduce evaporation by as much as 93%, and significantly reduce hydrocarbon emissions.
